Our story

We built TeaTime on one belief: families should feel close every day.

Every older person deserves to feel close to the people they love, every single day. We built the technology to make that possible.

Why we exist

Loneliness in aged care is a crisis we can actually solve.

Loneliness is the number one health risk facing older Australians in residential care. It accelerates cognitive decline, increases hospitalisation, and diminishes quality of life, yet it is almost entirely preventable.

The barrier isn't willingness. Families want to stay connected, residents want to feel remembered, and staff want to help. The problem is friction: login screens, app downloads, learning curves, forgotten passwords.

TeaTime removes all of it. Family moments arrive automatically on the TV residents already watch, every day, without anyone needing to do a thing.

Residents don't learn anything new. Families just share.

The origin

It started with a TV and a feeling.

The idea for TeaTime came from watching older relatives in care, mentally sharp and emotionally present, but struggling to feel the everyday closeness of family life. The tools available were built for people who grew up with smartphones, not for people who hadn't.

Residents already had TVs and families already had phones. The gap wasn't technology, it was the right design. Something that met residents exactly where they were, with nothing new to learn.

We launched TeaTime on Foxtel's BusinessIQ platform in Australia, and expanded to the UK with the support of Scottish Care. Every feature we've built, every design decision we've made, has been guided by one question: does this make the connection feel real?

We're a small team. We work alongside aged care providers and families who want their parents to feel thought of, not just on visiting days, but every day.

What drives us

What we don't trade away.

Residents first, always

Every decision starts with one question: does this make the resident's life better? Not just more convenient for the operator, or easier to sell. Better for the person in the room.

The hard work is making it simple

Our hardest engineering challenges are about making things simpler. Fewer steps, less friction, more moments that actually land.

Built with aged care, not just for it

We work with aged care operators, families, and residents. What they tell us shapes what we build.
